Acknowledge the situation at hand but find positivity.

It’s true that right now things are very challenging for everyone. It’s important to acknowledge that things are difficult, while still promoting your business. It could come across as tone deaf and insensitive if you don’t recognize that we are in a global pandemic and in fact, this is a very hard time for a lot of people.

1. Don’t be insensitive to the situation.

For example, let’s say you work in financial investing. Here are two examples of captions for a social media post. One is a good example and one is a little more insensitive.

  1. “Learn better ways to negotiate your next raise. Sign up for our online course!”
  2. “Now more than ever it’s important than ever to make sure your finances are taken care of as much as possible. We are here to help you during these uncertain times!

Which one would you choose? It may be obvious, but we have seen multiple businesses making these same mistakes across all of the industries we work in.

2. Make sure all of your business pages are optimized.

When people Google your business can they find you? First things first, make sure you have a Google Business profile. Make sure that all of the correct information is up to date and includes photos, hours of operations, and Google posts.

3. Reviews, reviews, reviews.

In addition to having your business profile updated, having legitimate reviews is crucial. It’s estimated that 91% of consumers between the ages of 18-34 trust actual review more than their friends. In fact, a study in the Harvard Review found that brands tend to see a 5-9% increase in revenue for every additional “star” rating they receive. Here is an easy review link, we recommend sending to your former or current clients. It could be as simple as sending them a quick email asking for a review. At Mapped Social, we run comprehensive review campaigns that have led to some amazing results.

4. Utilize the Power of Facebook Ads

Whether your business is temporarily closed or only offering curbside pickup it’s important to make sure people know about it. You will reach more people, narrow down a target audience and potentially have more sales from using paid ads. Especially when everyone is looking at their phones or computers more during this time.

5. Post Shareable Content.

Social Media Today found that 93% of marketers found interactive content to be more engaging and educational versus just status content. A few examples include incorporating polls, quizzes, shoppable posts, virtual tours, and how-to’s. Educate. Inform. And Entertain.
